Standing Together to Support Mecosta County Families
At Big Rapids Roofing, giving back isn’t something we do once in a while—it’s woven into the heart of our company. Every year, we invest in community programs that help our neighbors, strengthen local families, and support the people who make Mecosta County such a special place to call home.
This June, we continued that commitment through our 2nd Annual Stamping Out Hunger Campaign, raising $7,650 for three local food pantries that work tirelessly to make sure no family goes without a meal.
This initiative is more than a donation—it’s a community effort fueled by compassion, generosity, and a shared belief that every person deserves access to nutritious, high-quality food.
Stamping Out Hunger: A Community Campaign with Big Impact
The Stamping Out Hunger Campaign began as a way to support food pantries during a time of year when donations typically slow down. Summer can be a difficult season for families, especially when children are home from school and household food needs increase.
To help meet those needs, our team dedicated the entire month of June to raising awareness and funds for three incredible local organizations. Thanks to the support of homeowners, partners, and community members, this year’s Stamping Out Hunger Campaign was a tremendous success.
Supporting Local Food Pantries Across Mecosta County
Food insecurity affects more families than many people realize. Local food pantries work year-round to fill that gap, offering groceries, fresh foods, and essential items to households facing challenging times.
Through this campaign, Big Rapids Roofing proudly raised $7,650, which was divided equally among three organizations making a real difference:
God’s Helping Hands of Mecosta County
A faith-based organization providing food, clothing, and support services to families who need a helping hand.
Manna Pantry of Big Rapids
A community-driven pantry supplying groceries and household essentials to individuals and families across the Big Rapids area.
Project Starburst
A long-standing nonprofit dedicated to feeding local residents with care, compassion, and dignity.
Each organization received $2,550, helping them replenish shelves, purchase fresh foods, and support the increasing number of families seeking assistance.
How Your Support Helps Feed Families
A donation of this size extends far beyond a one-time grocery purchase. For our food pantry partners, this funding helps them:
- Provide fresh produce, dairy, meats, and pantry staples
- Stock shelves with nutritious, high-quality foods
- Support families with dietary restrictions or health needs
- Expand their ability to serve more households during peak demand
- Offer reliable access to essential groceries year-round
Impact on the Big Rapids Community
Food insecurity can affect anyone—working families, seniors, veterans, single parents, and individuals facing unexpected life challenges. When local food pantries have the support they need, the entire community benefits.
This Year’s Campaign Helped:
- Stock pantry shelves with high-quality foods
- Reduce the stress and pressure of food shortages
- Support children during the summer months
- Strengthen relief programs for families experiencing hardship
- Ensure no family had to choose between paying bills and buying groceries
A Letter That Means Everything
One of the most meaningful parts of this year’s campaign came from the heartfelt letters we received from the local pantries. Their messages expressed gratitude not only for the funds, but for the continued partnership, respect, and visibility this initiative brings to their work.
Those letters reminded our team why this program is so important—and why we will continue to support it year after year.
Community-Focused, Service-Driven
At Big Rapids Roofing, we believe in building more than high-quality roofs in Northern Michigan. We believe in building stronger communities, stronger connections, and stronger support systems for the people who live here.
The Stamping Out Hunger Campaign is one of the many ways we give back. Each year, our team invests time, resources, and energy into local nonprofits that serve Mecosta County with dedication and compassion. Whether it’s repairing homes, supporting veterans, or fighting hunger, these initiatives reflect the values we stand for.
Our company has grown because of the trust of our community—and giving back is one way we show our gratitude.
Looking Ahead: Continuing the Tradition
The success of the 2nd Annual Stamping Out Hunger Campaign shows just how powerful our community can be when we work together. And we’re only getting started.
We look forward to continuing this campaign each June and finding even more ways to support our local food pantries throughout the year.
As the needs of our community evolve, so will our commitment to meeting them.
Thank You for Supporting the Campaign
To every customer, partner, volunteer, friend, and neighbor who helped make this year’s Stamping Out Hunger Campaign happen—thank you.
Your support helped feed local families, strengthened three incredible nonprofits, and made a meaningful impact across Mecosta County.
Together, we are proving that when a community comes together, we can change lives.
At Big Rapids Roofing, we’re proud to build roofs—but even prouder to build hope, strength, and connection for the people we serve.

BRR is A++ at all levels from Nicholas, Project Manager / Sales Representative, David and Lance Skylight Installers, Faith in the office, Gus an active owner, and to the subcontractor roofing installers. It was a very smooth process due … More to their diligence, pride of work, and professionalism. BRR is the company to turn to especially when the need arises to replace skylights. The company is an authorized dealer and installer of highly rated Velux Skylights. Google: Velux Skylights, put in your zip code, and the sole party that shows up is BRR. My project was somewhat unusual since I wanted to replace my discontinued 20-year-old Andersen skylights at the same time reroofing the shingles and related. I learned from the Internet search that various experts recommend to also change "old" (20 years clearly qualifies) skylights when reroofing. A delay only means an eventual old skylight failure, leaks, additional damage, fighting the elements, shingles torn off to replace and the inevitable higher cost!! Since Andersen no longer manufactures skylights, I needed to pursue "Plan B" with BRR / Velux. Essentially, BRR "fit a square peg in a round hole" with a perfect, beautiful, and high-quality replacement. The new ones are more esthetically pleasing and energy efficient than the former ones. I should have started with BRR. Instead, I received the runaround from other roofing companies that claim to replace skylights. The key to skylight replacement is 1). hire trained Velux installers and 2). buy a quality Velux product. Now, I am all set for another extended period time since I know the job was done right the first time. -

We completed our new roofing project Oct ‘25. It was a little bit of a slow start in terms of scheduling but once scheduled the process was quick and easy. We are happy with the quality of the work and the cleanup was excellent. There are … More good financing options available. -

The staff at Big rapids roofing was very professional and friendly. They were able to explain to me why my roof was leaking and what needs to be done to fix it. They also helped direct us to a place to get a loan with a decent interest … More rate. -

I found Big Rapids roofing because I specifically wanted a roofer who would install Timberline shingles. I found them through the GAF timberline website as certified installers. Building delays for my chimney completion meant they could … More not start until December. As soon as the chimney was finished I called them and they fit me in quickly. They had to blow snow off the roof in order to work. They did a complete tear off and I had the water barrier applied to the entire roof surface, rather than just the valleys as other roofers would do. And the price was more reasonable. They did excellent clean up, and because of the weather their trucks sank into my yard leaving some ruts. They sent a guy out with bags of dirt and grass seed to rectify this, although I did not insist on that. I'm very pleased. -

From my initial call with them to our quote visit this company was very friendly and professional, in the office, in the field or on the roof. We spent a day with various roofing companies and none of the others could match them in any … More area. It was an easy choice to go with Big Rapids Roofing! From the day we got our quote to job completion it was all done in less than two weeks! They do not mess around. The crew doing our roof did an exemplary job, exhibiting great work ethic and care. I can’t recommend them enough. You will not be disappointed going with Big Rapids Roofing. I’m calling them back when we need our windows done! Thank you BRR, you have a walking, talking billboard in me!
